Murders in North Carolina are up 32% compared to just five years ago

Woke, soft-on-crime prosecutors and attorneys general are plain wrong

CHARLOTTE – The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation publishes annual reports of crime incidents and rates in North Carolina. The most recent report discloses figures through 2022.

Here’s the number of murders by year, from 2013 to 2022:

 

The number of murders is 75% higher than one decade ago, and 32% higher than five years ago.

In fact, the number of murders was higher in 2022 than in nine of the past 10 years.

Democrats and some media outlets want to focus on the tiny dip at the end while ignoring the massive increase over the past decade. That’s reckless.

Congressman Dan Bishop said, “Woke, soft-on-crime prosecutors and attorneys general have overseen a 32% increase in North Carolina murders in just the past five years. Why do people report in poll after that poll that they feel less safe? Because they are.”
